I’ve been working on a fast-paced multiplayer action RPG in UE4 with the following features:

• Steam networking using Online Subsystem for session hosting, server lists, and session joining
• Replicated, server-authoritative abilities and effects including magic spells, melee attacks, and debuff indicators, powered by the Gameplay Ability System (used in Fortnite)
• Clean UI with leaderboard, damage indicators, spell availability icons, and health/mana bars

The video below shows a PvP deathmatch game mode. In the future I plan to add more game modes including PvE missions, more classes, and upgrade systems.

Dorm Room Fever is a first person adventure / stealth game where you play as a college student who’s under travel quarantine after moving into the dorms. It’s a tongue-in-cheek take on the 2020 college experience, when many students were placed under strict restrictions and subpar living conditions.

I programmed the game in 100% Blueprints in UE4 over the course of a week, as an entry for the Epic 2020 MegaJam. I worked with two other devs who handled environment/character art and game design.

Uploading quality educational game dev tutorials on YouTube. Topics covered so far include material shader animation, instanced static meshes, randomized material instances, animation retargeting, health/damage systems, and saving/loading game.

Our approach emphasizes solid conceptual understanding, best coding practices, and optimizing performance through profiling.

At Radical Motion, I developed a LiveLink integration using C/C++ for Radical Studio, a desktop app that uses deep learning to generate real-time 3D animation data from video. The LiveLink integration allows the animation data to be live streamed to an Unreal Engine editor session, and the data can then be applied to a character in a 3D scene.

I developed Antifreeze, an FPS movement puzzler, for the Unreal Spring Game Jam in June 2020. The core mechanic is freezing or melting objects using a Portal-inspired gun. I was responsible for the following aspects:

• Environmental interaction using Blueprint Interfaces
• Material shaders for water, ice, and freezing transition
• Level design

The game was developed over the course of five days in UE4 with a team of three developers including myself, and it’s currently available for free download on itch.io. You can also check out this gameplay clip.

At Voodoo Manufacturing, I developed a 6DOF robot that can trim clear plastic aligners to sub-millimeter accuracy using an ABB robot with the ROS framework (C++ and Python). I owned the project and was responsible for all aspects including path planning, simulation, calibration, digital I/O, and cloud integration using WebSockets.

During a previous internship at Voodoo while in school, I also developed a 6DOF robot arm to operate a cell of nine 3D printers using ROS with Python and OpenCV. The hardware consists of a Universal Robots UR10 arm, Robotiq gripper, and Basler machine vision camera.

Pulled Over is a 360-degree narrative short film about four high school students driving home from practice when a routine traffic stop takes a turn for the worse.

It’s the story for many black Americans for whom prejudice is an everyday occurrence; whether it’s a suspicious gaze or tragic act of violence.

For people whose skin color grants them immunity from unjustified scrutiny, it can be difficult to imagine what experiencing discrimination is like. I made this film to foster more empathy and understanding of the oppressions black Americans face.

Healios provides effective and accessible mental health care, focusing on recovery after traumatic experiences.

This prototype for a mental health treatment platform was a Global Finalist at the 2019 IBM Call for Code competition. Healios placed 4th overall out of 5000+ projects and 180,000+ participants.

We were interviewed by IBM at their NYC offices, as well as featured on IBM’s blog

The team consisted of (left to right) Kevin Kim, myself, Tony Park, Christopher McKinney, and Sunjae Shim.

For my senior design project in the Mechanical Engineering major at Columbia University, my team designed, built, and programmed a 4-axis robot that could throw pottery.

We used two end effectors, shaped like a palm and a finger, to press the clay into pre-programmed shapes including a vase, cup, and bowl.
